So grown up!

We were over at a friend's house this weekend for their daughter's 2nd birthday. She is 3 weeks older than E, so naturally it reminded us that our little girl will soon be 2 as well. She has become such a little lady! Lately she has had quite the language explosion and is mostly speaking in 3-5 word sentences. A far cry from last year at this time when she hardly uttered a peep!

Her newest phrases are:
Where did (Mommy, Daddy, Jacob, Izzie, etc) go?
Daddy, Emma go swimming? (Really cute! She pronounces her own name Eeemah.)
Emma get dressed. Emma go night night. Baby needs jammies.
And saying "Bless you daddy" after a sneeze.

It's always fun to see what she will come up with next!

The 1st birthday party

I got in trouble from family for not posting these sooner. Sorry, things have been a little crazy this week. The birthday and party went very well. It was hot....it's July...but the kids had fun playing in the pool and sandbox. Isabel got a lot of really nice things...not that she really needed anything! :)

Peek-a-boo!!
How did you know my signature color is green???

See that lady next to Iz....not the mom. That's Iz's Godmommy Dana. She is WAY pregnant (her baby was due Wednesday) and somehow she sat on the floor and got up!!!! Amazing. She is being induced tomorrow. We are very excited for her. You can follow the fun here!

Iz and her loot

My first attempt at a home made B-day cake.

(After tasting it J replied "The cake is not so good b/c it's not chocolate Mommy, but the frosting is the best in the world. Can you make a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting for my Bday?)

That pink layer was supposed to be between the top and the bottom layer here. But, it got a little too tall and rediculous for a 1st party. But it was tasty!

Swim time!

Splashing fun!

This photo is hilarious for so many reasons. Josie (E's Godparent's daughter) would frequently nick food from E and Iz's trays while we were at the beach. I was pretty good about making sure she never got the meat (they are vegetarians). But here, E was eating a REAL hot dog and by the time I got over there, I was informed she had eaten seveal pieces. Sorry A & C.

Take my food, just don't ake the sippy! Another food thief (cousin Andrew)

Iz's new ride from Nana and Papa, with cousin E.

This is the best part of ANY party...cake!

Not bad Mom!

Thank goodness the cake is meatless!

Happy Birthday to me!!!

The Bug Sanctuary

Well, it was SUPPOSED to be a bird sanctuary, but we didn't see a single one. There was, however, a multitude of bugs to swat away. What fun! (P.s. J decided to pass on this adventure and played on the beach with the other "big" kids catching hermit crabs....smart kid!!!)

Looking for birds with daddy

Hmmmm, maybe they are down here???

Pretty girl in curls

Maybe this hat will keep the bugs away
Hey! Wait! That's MY hat!
Can we just go back to the beach???
Still looking for those darn birds...

Lousy attempt at a photo opp...

And...still not working
We didn't stay long, and enjoyed a nice lunch after! I don't recommend bird sanctuaries to people traveling with small children. If you do go, take a lot of bug spray!!!

Guess who is 1 today???

Can you believe our baby is one? Last year at this time I was super sick from all the IV pain meds and not allowed to get out of bed to visit my baby with the hole in her lung in the NICU. It was devastating not being able to hold her right after birth...and for several says after. I can't imagine moms that have to go longer. My night nurse sneaked me out of my bed into a wheelchair and flew me downstairs to see my poor little girl, but I was a vomitting mess and they made me leave as soon as I started up again. She left the NICU 2 days later, but we watched her breathing for months...

Now...there is no stopping her! She is a ray of Sunshine in our lives. We are blessed to have her!

Then...

Now...
